Synopsis

Dayton Edge builds the engines that power DuPont Racing to victory, yet driver Bucky Wilson takes the glory. When Bucky quits mid-race, Dayton secretly drives Bucky's car from a lap down to win, then returns to obscurity. The team credits Bucky as the Racing God.

Bucky fears Dayton's indifference and plots against him with his brother Forrest, the crew chief, who steals Dayton's notebook and forges evidence. Junior DuPont, running the team during his father's recovery, believes the lies. Dayton is fired on live television, dumped by Lacy Mae, and handcuffed on pit road. He stays silent to protect Big Wade DuPont. Then Clara-Lynn Armstrong, owner of a rival team, reveals she saw him in Bucky's helmet and proves the receipt fake, offering him a chance to race against those who buried him.
