Synopsis
Framed for treason by her aunt Valera, Elowen of the Winfield family is locked in a high tower, where she gives birth to a daughter, Mia, and sends the child away on the dragon Valensa with a dragon-crested ring and a red obsidian necklace, bound for Prince Orion of Aetheron.
At five, Mia walks alone into a royal banquet and is turned away as a fraud, since her father knows nothing of her. She takes work as a cleaner at the Dragon-Taming Academy, saving coins to visit her mother while keeping the secret Elowen left with her. As Valera hunts the dragon-taming arts, the dragons themselves confirm who Mia is.
