Synopsis
On the Night of the Lunar Eclipse, Joanna, a maid in the palace, conceives a child with King Atlas. Queen Sophia responds by scarring her and condemning her to the Tower of Oblivion, where Joanna gives birth to and raises her son, Louis, in confinement.
Years later, Louis rescues the Queen Mother, and through him Atlas begins to recognize the woman from that eclipse night, setting a revelation in motion. Meanwhile Sophia and her father Augustus move against the throne, and the Queen Mother's testimony turns the tide. The story tracks Joanna's path from a hidden servant to standing openly beside Atlas and awaiting a second child.
