Synopsis
Maria's ten-year marriage collapses when Jack serves her divorce papers and leaves her for Nikki. Nikki's response is not to move on but to order a hit on Maria, who is pulled out of danger by Richard Paterson, a man both handsome and ruthless.
Maria's circumstances shift again at her grandfather's funeral, where she inherits a vast mafia empire and steps into the role of Godmother of the St. Clair crime family. She wants peace in a world built on violence, and the pull toward Richard, her childhood crush and the family's trusted advisor, complicates every decision.
